- Ask whether
the parent has any Indian heritage.
- If either
parent or both parents answers affirmatively, inform the department’s
counsel
of the Indian heritage.
- If the parent
is unsure or is sure of Indian heritage but unsure of details, and
receives a
form from the department with regard to Indian heritage, encourage the
parent
to fill the form out and see that it is timely returned to the
department.
