- Ask whether
the parent has any Indian heritage.
- If either
parent or both parents answers affirmatively, order the department to
send
notice to all the relevant tribes as identified by the parent or
parents or to
the Bureau of Indian Affairs if the parent cannot identify any tribal
affiliation, but identifies Indian heritage.
- Make findings
about whether the child is or is not an Indian child, if sufficient
information
is made available to make such a finding.
