C.R.S. § 19-3-508(1) and (3)

The court may select among several alternatives.
  • With parental custody, the court allows the child to remain with the parent or guardian with or without protective supervision under necessary and appropriate conditions.
  • With relative custody, the court transfers custody to a relative or other suitable person with or without protective supervision under necessary and appropriate conditions;
  • With DHS custody, the court transfers custody to DHS to place the child in a relative home, foster family, group care or other appropriate facility;
  • With termination, the court terminates one parent’s rights and makes any other appropriate disposition, or terminates both parents’ rights and orders DHS to place the child for adoption.
L.A.G. v. People, 912 P.2d 1385 (Colo. 1996)
The court may transfer custody to the noncustodial parent. The court may also order joint custody. It may then dismiss the case or order another appropriate disposition.

C.R.S. § 19-1-103(87)
Protective supervision requires DHS to monitor the placement. The court may also designate another agency or the court to provide supervision.
