Though a non-citizen juvenile is
generally safe from the consequences which would normally flow from a
conviction, any such adjudication can be taken into consideration when the non-citizen
attempts to naturalize. Non-citizens who
apply for United States
citizenship are required to show they are persons of good moral character. Juvenile adjudications, despite not being
convictions, will be considered in determining whether the non-citizen can show
the requisite good moral character to become a United States citizen.
